The Great Show of Kobol - Land. By Frank R. Stockton. (Osgood,

Mcllvaine, and Co.)--This is a quaint, fanciful tale, which will certainly amuse, but not amuse in the overpowering fashion which we are accustomed to expect from Mr. Stockton. His griffins,

dryads, mermaids, " cosmic-beans " (a vegetable which supplies all human needs, and has to be suppressed lest it should overturn all society), and all the rest of his imaginings, are entertaining ; but we prefer to find him dealing with ordinary people and things. To these he always contrives to give a certain novelty.
