SCGTTISD BANKING AuxivITIES.

- Yet another Scottish- Rank has been added to the number of those who have enlarged their sphere Of operations in this country by opening establishments in the West End of London. It will be recalled that until quite recently the Scottish Banks confined their activities south of the Tweed to one office in the City of London. A few years ago, however, one of the banks which has retained its independence--The Royal Bank Of Scotland—by not coining under' the control of the " Big-Five " absorbed the well-knoWn Private husiriess of Drummonds, and as a consequence obtained an office and important interests in the Charing Cross &Alia. A little later another of the " independent " banks, namely- the Commercial Bank of Scotland, opened officeS in KingSway, and new the Union Bank of Scotland, which is also among the " independents," is about to open a branch in British Columbia House, Regent Street, under the charge of Mr. Robert-Dick, at present one of the Joint Accountants of the

City Office in Gornhill. _
