Does the Record think slander directed against an opposite party

a religious virtue? It prefaced its account of Lord Palmerston's dangerous illness last Wednesday with these curious words, " Lord Palmerston's health has been remarkably good for some time past, notwithstanding sinister rumours of illness, generally originating with those whose wish is father to the thought." As the official ac- count speaks of the attack of Thursdayweek only as "a relapse," this statement of the Record cannot be true, and must be a mere out- burst of that natural wish to believe in human evil appropriate to a journal which desires to justify the sentence of all but universal damnation.
