Yesterday the Record had forgotten all its malicious imputations on

its contemporaries, and was indulging " a well-founded hope that a statesman, who has been of late years is the hands of the Almighty so great an instrument of good to the Church of Christ has himself died in peace, and found mercy of the Lord." It " humbly" trusts that "his ecclesiastical appointments reflected a blessing on his own soul." We fear this is the gospel of works. The Record will find no Calvinistic authority for hoping for salvation by playing into the hands of the Calvinistic party.
