An election of a minister, to succeed the late Mr.

Sheppard, at St. James's, Clerkenwell, is going on in that parish. The polling com- menced yesterday, and will be continued this day and on Monday. At the close of the poll last evening, the numbers were—for the Reverend Mr. Faulkener, 1160 ; the Reverend Dr. Dillon, 929.

The " National Convention " dissolved itself, by a vote, on Saturday last. The numbers were II and 11 and the chairman gave his casting- vote for dissolution. Three members signed a protest against it, as going beyond the powers which they derived from the constituent body : the people only, who appointed, could dissolve the Convention.
