The Florence correspondent of the Rime de Paris connects the

Emperor of Austria's residence at Trieste with the projected establish- ment of an Italian customs-union ; and says, that the Italians at once distrust any suggestion from Austria and approve of any project for consolidating Italy. No doubt both feeling^ "ie strong in the breasts of Italian piiiiticians. .But worse cannot be looked for from the oppressors Af Italy than she has suffered already ; consolidated, by any means, she must gain in nationality of opinion and in popular strength ; while the enormous evil of the frontier-customs at every stage is incalcu- lable.
