Sur,—One of the least of Wesley's followers may be permitted to thank you for Jour admirable article in the Spectator of September 14th. On your remark as to the " spirit of comprehension" in Wesleyanism, may I quote John Wesley's words written in the year before his death P—" I still aver, I have never read or heard of, either in ancient or modern history, any other Church which builds on so broad a founda- tion as the Methodists do ; it requires of its members no con- formity either in opinion or method of worship, but only this one thing, to fear God and work righteousness."—I am, Sir
