Sta.—Janus is not quite correct in stating that the aim of those working in the science of gerontology is " to make people live longer and longer." The purpose of gerontology is to apply scientific study to the process of growing old ; amongst other problems to distinguish between physio- logical or normal ageing and pathological or diseased conditions which are common in the aged and which may be prevented.
