I love Benny

Sir: I write to tell you that I love Benny Green — at least, I love him for his article in your April 8 issue.

I find I am not alone, after all. There are others who get off a bus and, having worked it all out with a map, walk briskly for fifteen minutes or so exactly 180 degrees off course. Seven times out of ten, that is. The other three times we have serious doubts ' locationbump-wise ' and disobey our instinct, walking briskly for about fifteen minutes . . . exactly 180 degrees wrong.

Are there also many who, like me, then retrace their steps and start out again from point 1, only 90 degrees out this time? If so, let us all be grateful for the many unexplored streets and roads we have plodded. Unlike West Hampstead singer E, I would never attempt to drive from Paris to, say, Dieppe. It's an awful long way to Marseilles, or Lisbon or ...?
