Cookery Up to Date. By May Little. (T. Werner Laurie.

2s. 6d.)—This is a useful little book, and if there are no startlingly new receipts in it, the old ones are very good. The list of proper proportions, such as two ounces of cereals to a pint of milk for milk puddings, will be a blessing to the inexperienced housewife who is trying to teach an equally inexperienced cook. The directions are clearly expressed, and little is left to chance. We are even told to remove the outside leaves when cooking cabbages, and though this minuteness may seem superfluous to a " professed cook," it is of great use to other people.
