[To THE EDITOR Or IBM "SPECTATOR. "] SIR,—Inspired by and using

the words of your article in the Spectator of last Saturday, I have taken upon myself, as being the acknowledged leader of the village, to placard the village

with the following notice.—I am, Sir, &c., VICAR.

"NOTICE. It is the FIRST DUTY of every man between 19 and 30 years of age to join Lord Kitchener's Army. The term is tilt the war is finished'—in any case not more than three years. The Territorials are full—and the term is for four years. A man is likely to do more bread-winning in the Army than at home. No man is too good to serve his King and country as a private soldier. JOIN AT ONCE.

August 17th, 1914. Vicar, GOD SAVE THE KING."
