METROPOLITAN FESTIVAL.

Tim work of preparation for this great undertaking is advancing with vigour. Sir GEORGE SMART had an interview on Saturday last with the Royal Society of Musicians (the most numerous as- sociation of professors in the kingdom), and laid before them the outline of the plan which he had previously submitted to his Ma- jesty. It was cordially approved ; and a certain number of the Society were named as part of the Committee to whose manage- ment the details of the Festival will be submitted. The other members of' the Committee will be selected from the Choirs of St. Paurs, Westminster Abbey, and the Chapel Royal, with the Organists of each.
