Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton died on Wednesday last, at North

Repps Hall, his seat in Norfolk; aged fifty-nine. Sir Thomas was less known even by the connexion of his name with a famous brewery, than by his exertions in many a philanthropic enterprise—to improve prison-dis*Ime, abolish suttee, and suppress Negro slavery. He was the mam originator of that grievous mistake the Niger expedition: but he mea;ut well, and his errors perish with him.

. Today the Earl of Mornington is reported to be gradually. sinking. We understand," says the Standard, "that since yesterday morning the venerable Earl has not been able to take any refreshment whatever, and does not appear to know any one in attendance upon him."

In the-Court of Exchequer, this morning, Mr. Dare, the Master of the Court, was suddenly seized with apoplexy. He received prompt medical aid, and hopes are entertained of his recovery.
