Mr. Lucas began his "Musical Evenings" for the season on

Thursday. His entertainment, as formerly, consisted entirely of chamber instrument- al music,—quartets of Haydn, Spohr, and Beethoven, one of Beethoven's sonatas for the piano and violin, and a movement for the piano from the posthumous works of Mendelssohn. The performers were Sainton, Dando, Hill, Lucas, and Sterndale Bennett. Everything was admirably executed and warmly applauded by a numerous and fashionable assembly.
