Panetta. By Ernest M. de Paris. (Remington and Co.)—A. very

readable novel is Panetta, with a chequered love-story for a plot, and a thoroughly modern villain in the shape of a financial agent. Panetta, her lover, Vincey the artist, and Morson the villain, keep the story moving briskly till things end happily and the lovers discover treasure and are united. The story derives additional interest from the fact that Vincey and Monson are descendents of Spanish castaways, who have had a death-struggle on account of this same treasure. Morson is a very lifelike character.
