Unglued Jac

Sir: In a delicious comment on a recent letter (complaining that despite the change from one staple to glue The Spectator still tends to fall apart) you said you must try to glue better. This week's model has neither staple nor glue of any description. There is indeed a case for this, since it enables the JAC addict to extract the page without destroying the rest of the reading matter. And indeed it is a good practice, when faced with two unsatisfactory alternatives, to see if it is not possible to dispense with both. For our part we have invested in a modest stapling machine, which seems to work: but we regret this early demise of your own good resolution.
