Sta.—Janus cites the prostitute and barrow boy as cases which make the law look a fare: he could well add the London motorist. Once every three months or so the owner-driver is called into court: unless he has a good deal of time or money to spare, he pays up his ten bob and finds a new parking place—illegal, of course. otherwise it will cost him more than the quarterly fine. Then he waits the next summons in
