Sir: It is a pity that your comment on the John Drummond v. Nigel Kennedy bout should begin with two errors of fact (Lead- ing article, 15 June). John Drummond did not 'introduce rock music to the network'. The late Derek Jewell was playing rock on the posh station when Drummond was scarcely out of Cambridge.

As for 'the East End boy Stokes' becom- ing 'the maestro Stokowski', this hoary canard has been around long enough. Leopold Anthony Stokowski was born in Upper Marylebone Street in 1882, and registered as such by the Marylebone Registrar. I have a copy of the birth certificate, which is in St Catherine's House.
