Sir: There is a special hell reserved for those who thank God that they are not as other men are through the use of `(sic]'. Occasionally, however, Nemesis catches up with them in this world. The Schobert whom you thus labelled (Unlettered, 15 June) was Johann Schobert (c. 1735-1767), a composer admired by Beethoven and Mozart (himself no mean purveyor of crass, illiterate and embarrassing letters).
