Girton College celebrated its jubilee last summer. Old students and

others interested in women's education may like to know that a full account of the proceedings appears in a .special Jubilee number of the Girton Review (Cambridge. 'Deighton, Bell ; 2s. net.). The speeches were worthy of the ,occasion. It is well to note Miss Jex-Blake's hint that Cam- 'bridge should, of her own accord, give degrees to the women who have earned them without waiting to be constrained by a Royal Commission. We observe that another speaker, in a !moment of enthusiasm, knighted James Watt, as if he had been living in this generous age. It is true that Watt was !offered a baronetcy, but the great inventor died without a handle to his name.
