Press design

Sir: Having picked up a copy of 8 May edition of the SPECTATOR after an absence of some years and prompted by Dennis Hackett's arti- cle on the tabloid Daily Mail, in which he rightly comments on its typographical sterility, I write to declare my view that your own journal is a typographical rag-bag compared with much of the opposi- tion. The mast-head and surround- ings is a classic in this respect.

Britain and Europe have some of the very best graphic designers in the world—a fact which much of the daily and weekly press seem to ignore.

How about balancing the quality of your words with a similar quali- ty of presentation?
