The Singapore papers mention that the laws of England, in

criminal cases, are in full operation in our Indian empire. The first court of Oyer and Termmer and gaol delivery was held on the 22nd May. At Calcutta and Bombay cholera morbus fatally prevailed. Among its victims were Mr. Roger Winter, of the Calcutta bar, Mr. R. 0. Bridgeman, Advocate-General of the Bombay Presi- dency, and Captain P. Warden Grant. Here, as at Gibraltar, the seasonable rains had materially checked the progress of the disease.
