SATITRDAY.

The third Cabinet Council of the week was held yesterday, at the offi- cial residence of Lord Palmerston. All the Ministers except Lord Lans- downe were again present.

Sir Alexander Cockburn took leave of the Benchers and members of the Middle Temple yesterday morning. The ball was crowded with bar- risters and law-students. At ten o'clock, Sir Alexander, preceded by Mr. Noggins the Treasurer and the Benchers, entered the hall. Mr. Huggins, according to custom, congratulated the new Judge, and pre- sentedMin with a retaining-fee as counsel for the Middle Temple in case its liberties be threatened. Sir Alexander made a suitable reply. The barristers and students partook of breakfast provided by the Benchers.

In the course of the morning, Sir Alexander Cockburn was admitted by the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas as a Sergeant-at-law. It was expected that he would take his seat on the bench, but he did not.
