Last Saturday afternoon in the Egyptian Parliament Zaghlul Pasha created

consternation by announcing that his health no longer permitted him to remain in office and that he had just tendered his resignation to King Fuad. Both Houses immediately passed votes of confidence in the late Cabinet and adjourned till Monday. The excitement was so great, however, and so much pressure was brought to bear upon Zaghlul Pasha, that he visited the King within a few hours and withdrew his resignation. He made an announcement to this effect when he met his party at Parliament House last Sunday. It is now generally accepted that Zaghlul resigned simply in order to prove that he was indispensable.
