OTHER NOVELS

Bee.0 Geste. By P. C. Wren. (John Murray. 7s. 6d. net.) —This novel has cne of the best sensational openings which have appeared for years. The description of the fort in the desert defended by a dead man in etch embrasure is truly terrifying. The rest -of the book is concerned with the explanation of the mystery. It is very exciting reading, but • the motive which leads the three young Englishmen to enlist in the French Foreign Legion is fantastically incredible. However, the reader's hair will stand on end countless times before he gets to the end of the book, which. considering the fatness of the volume, is a comforting assurance to those who embark upon it.
