On Tuesday, the Air Minister, Sir Samuel Hoare, inspected the

new Air Station at Cardington, near Bedford. It is proposed that Cardington shall be the departure and arrival point for airships carrying Imperial mails. The great airship, R101,' which is about to be built, will be the first to be constructed of steel. According to an account in the Daily Express she will be able to lift 155 tons, including 75 tons allotted for fuel, water ballast, goods and passengers. It is hoped that she will be ready for her trials by the end of 1926. It is-proposed to have services to Egypt, India, Australia, Cape Town and Canada. Australia, it is believed, will be brought within ten days of Great Britain.
