There is much pretty writing among them, indeed, one might say, too much ; we miss action and movement. The writer always has a thought to work out, and contrives something like a tale to work it out in ; but the thought is overlaid with a mass of sentiment and rhetoric, good of their kind, but somewhat wearying.
