that in Mr. Watson's opinion continuity between the Pre-Reformation Church and the modern Church of England was lost when the trammels of Roman jurisdic- tion were thrown off. But Papal supremacy has nothing whatever to do with the essentials of a Church. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Contances exercised jurisdiction over the Channel Islands, accepting the reformed Liturgy for that portion of his ancient diocese, for twenty years after Papal supremacy had been abolished there.—I am, Sir, &c., A.
