The airship Clement-Bayard No. 2' made a most suc- cessful

flight from Compiegne to London last Sunday. This is the airship which has been built at the instance of the Parliamentary Committee of Aerial Defence, and the War Office contemplate buying it if it satisfactorily passes the testa through which it will be put. The airship left Compiegne at 7.10 a.m., and reached Wormwood Scrubs, where the Daily Mail garage was specially built to receive it, at 1.25. The wind was favourable, but the journey was nevertheless remark- ably smooth, and there does not seem to have been a hitch of any kind. No one has ever before travelled from Compiegne to London in six and a quarter hours. The average speed was forty-one miles an hour.
