Mr. Joad's Diogenes, or the Future of Leisure (Kegan Paul,

2s. 6d.) is a dreary little book in three sections ; the art of living, the misuses of leisure, and the future of leisure. We hope for some oasis of optimism, some cooling shower of wit in the desert of Mr. Joad's philosophy, but find none. It is not worthy of the clever author of Thrasymachus.
