In my Garden There is little doubt, I think, that

of all the gourds (marrow, p squash) the best to- eat is the custard marrow. It is sometimes regard as a shy bearer, but one of my neighbours at least complains that fruits too freely. The same neighbour grows many pumpkins heca apple and pumpkin pie is 'regarded as a most excellent dish. The bu marrow is better, on the whole, than the running marrow. My erPen of the new American' vegetable Celtuce does not wholly agree w instructions received. It grows most lustily, but is most useful (not a lettuce or a celery-like stalk) as i form of spinach.
