By hand of messenger

Sir: Sure, the letter I wrote to you a couple of weeks ago was delivered by hand. But by a Post Office messenger using the new door to door express service.

I was trying to catch your deadline for that week's issue and I see nothing wrong in using the fast and efficient express delivery service to try to do that.

One of my complaints about Post Office management is that they have been too quick to cut service and put up prices and much less ready to find out the needs of the community and try to provide those needs at a profit.

Now that the express post is being both advertised and made both more effective and useful it would be churlish not to use it. Especially when I wanted delivery from Clapham to Doughty Street within the hour. Tom Jackson General Secretary, Union of Post Office Workers, UPW House, Crescent Lane, London SW4
