should stoop to such a banal and puerile attempt at satire in 'Adultery for adults' (9 August), I am not surprised that the defenders of our Pope's position have had to abandon their hardly tenable 'traditional standpoint,' but it is interesting that they have abandoned it in favour of scurrility.
