Tuesday ended in the return of Sir Weetman Pearson by a, majority of 263 votes,—Sir Weetman Pearson, 2,559; Captain Vereker, 2 296. The election has no political significance as- regards the future. Colchester is a place where local interests are very much indeed the "predominant partner in all political issues.
