SUGGESTIO FALSI

S111,—Though I am not noticeably depressed, it is nice of the Bishop of Grimsby to want to cheer me up. But the obituaries of Professor Tawney that he mentions do not really provide a parallel to the, broadcasts on Nansen with which 1 dealt in my article. For a genuine parallel, one would have, to imagine the BBC producing an hour-long programme on some great Christian humanitarian (e.g., William Wilberforce or Lord Shaftesbury) which left the ordinary listener with the impression that he was an atheist or an agnostic. Would the Bishop not feel that this called for a protest?
