The Society of Arts contemplate the formation of a new species of Art- Union. It is proposed to collect together the paintings of some one eminent living artist of the English school once a year; to exhibit them in the great room of the Society; to make a charge for admission; and to apply the profits of the exhibition to the purchase of a painting by the artist of the year, to be presented to the National Gallery. The picture to be painted expressly for the purpose. By this means, the Society of Arts would make a practical commencement towards forming a collection of the waits of British artists.
