It is a matter of surprise to me that a journal of such influence as the Spectator could have thought of founding an. argument on the authority of an obscure newspaper, willing and ready to accept the contributions of every village scribbler, no matter how insignificant or perversely imaginative.—I am, Sir, &c.,
