A WORD FOR THE G.P.O.

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,—I recently had occasion to send a wireless, message to a friend who was crossing the Bay of Biscay during a grent gale, it concluded with the words " buon appetito." The operator duly repeated the message but on coming to the Italian words she quietly remarked " I quite understand, but do you think it is kind?"

Surely this is a high tribute to the standards of service obtainable from P.O. officials.—I am, Sir, &c.,
