We are delighted to see that Mr. George Trevelyan is

to follow Professor Bury as Regius. Professor of Modern History at Cambridge. He is certainly a more " modern " historian, as his earliest theme has been the age of Wycliffe, whereas Professor Bury's chief studies were as old as Gibbon's. We like to think of the pleasure this appointment should give to Sir George Trevelyan, himself no mean historian.
