Courtship and Marriage. By Annie S. Swan (Mrs. Burnett Smith).

(Hutchinson and Co.)—There is plenty of good feeling and good sense in this volume. The author has good advice to give to per- sons "intending to marry," or already married, and this advice is always put in a practical form, and brought within the range of the possible. She holds the balance fairly between man and woman ; altogether, her counsels can be recommended by the feeling that she is a fair, kindly, and acute observer of life, with a certain leaning to the cause of her own sex.
