In the " New Series of the Oriental Translation "

(Royal Asiatic Society) we have A Buddhist Manual of Psychological Ethics, with Introductory Essay and Notes by Caroline A. F. Rhys Davids, M.A. This manual, dating, curiously enough, from about the time of Aristotle, is the first book of the " Abhidhamma Pitaka," and has the separate title of " Dhamma-Sangarii " (" Compendium of States or Phenomena "). Miss Rhys Davids gives us in her essay a general estimate of the work as a contribution to philosophy, and a special comparison with Greek speculation.
