Sir: The almost hysterical outcry against Mr Enoch Powell's recent

speech by the pro-Market lobby, clearly indicates that they are far more worried by the truth of his warning than they are prepared to admit to evert themselves!

However, the many suggestions made that Mr Powell is on weak ground because even many of those who once opposed Britain's entry into the Common Market, are not supposedly watering down their opposition, is the weakest reed in the chorus of lament.

The truth is that opposition to our continued involvement in Mr Heath's Common Market adventure is growing steadily. The recent formation of the National Council of Anti-Common Market Organisations is one of the spontaneous results 'of the growth of this opposition, which provides a means for the many different — and in many cases new — groups and associations to work together for the repeal of the European Communities Act.

The Conservative Party would do well to heed Mr Powell's warning, which we support, for they ignore it at their peril.
