Mexican Archaeology. By T. A. Joyce. (P. Lee'Warner. 12e. 6d.

net.)—Thena are few higher authorities on the subject of this work than Mr. Joyce of the British Museum. He has already contributed a volume on South American archaeology to Mr. Warner's excellent series of "Handbooks to Ancient Civilizations." In this-learned and extremely interesting book he discusses the Mexican and Mayan civilizations of pre- Spanish America. "The time is not in sight," he says, "when a complete elucidation of all the problems connected with this most fascinating area can be pat forward." But 'Mr. Joyce's summary of existing knowledge affords a most helpful and suggestive step in that direction.
