Down, Jenkins

Sir: 'I was therefore intrigued when I read in the "Miscellany" column of the Guardian that Mr Jenkins was to replace George Gale as the Mirror regular columnist. "Miscellany" was, as usual, slightly wrong. They corrected themselves a day or two later ...'—Bill Grundy (16 May).

Bill Grundy was, as usual, slightly wrong. The first, misleading paragraph about Clive Jenkins's column appeared in the Observer's back-page 'Pendennis' column. We were as in- trigued as Bill Grundy and set about discover.. ing the truth. Bill Grundy, of all people, should know that we are usually right when we predict pop paper columnists.
