Prothalamion

CHRISTOPHER HOLLIS

An amendment to the Divorce Reform Bill has proposed the establishment of two sorts of marriage—the one sort liable to the new divorce regulations, the other exempt from them.

Darling, will you marry me?

Marriage A or Marriage B?

All de luxe? Or would it be Best to try 'Economy'?

If you're bored with Marriage A

We can call it all a day—

Have no need of a pretence Of matrimonial offence.

Marriage B admits no stopper,

Binds and holds us good and proper—

All the fun and games in church, And then no leaving in the lurch.

Tiers, idle tiers, which shall it be?

Marriage A or Marriage B?

A for him? And B for her?

Darling, just as you prefer.
