The Foreign Office has received a telegram, dated 20th inst.,

from Colonel Stanton, Consul-General in Egypt, stating that the Consul at Zanzibar had on September 28 received "reliable infor- mation" of Dr. Livingstone. The traveller had been seen seven months ago at Marunga, on his voyage to the north-east, pass- ing to the west of Lake Tanganyika. As the Consul at Zanzibar believed the report of Dr. Livingetone's death, this is the most hopeful intelligence yet received.
