A Treatise on Manures. By A. B. Griffiths. (Whittaker and

Co.) —Dr. Griffiths has made up a very interesting volume on the manures of the present day, as well as a useful text-book for intending specialists. And the numerous analyses which explain his reasons, give the reader an opportunity of comparing manures and judging the writer's opinion. The phosphatic and guano manures, and iron sulphate especially, receive most attention from him. An account of M. Ville's system is valuable, and, as it works well, should be suggestive.
