The Czeoho-Slovaks, whose capacity for political organization seems to be

as remarkable as their military efficienoy, called together their National Assembly at the end of last week. The Assembly proclaimed the existence of the free Czecho-Slovak Republic and elected Professor Masaryk, who is well known to many Englishmen, as the first President. Dr. Kramarsh, who has headed the fight for Bohemian liberties during the war and has suffered much at. the hands of the Germans, is the first Prime Minister of the new Republic —an Ally in the very centre of Europe whose future Great Britain will watch with deep interest and sympathy.
