Good, Bad, and Indifferent : a Novel. 3 vols.. By

Major James Fox Brongh, R.H.A. (Remington. and Co.)—We are afraid this will not be found a very entertaining novel, and if it proves wanting in interest, it will not be redeemed by its general literary merits. The author has been able to dispense with the sensational, but has pro- duced only a tame narrative of events and personages, conceived without power, and described in an indifferent style. The book is mainly concerned with European life in India, in which a scandal of the ordinary type at a hill station and its complications occupy a very prominent place. The last two or three chapters are not wanting in pathos.
