The Modern Rewler's Bible for Schools : The Near Testament

By Richert G. Moulton. (Macmillan. 12s. 'nota—Professor Moulton has induced many people to read the Bible, by the simple expedient of printing it as if it were a modem book. We have never beea able to understand why the King's Printers and the old Universities, who hive the monopoly of printing the Bible in this country, have not taken a hint from Professor Moulton and produced complete editMns of the text, free from the arbitrary mediaeval verse-divisions and from the double- column page which is repugnant and even painful to the modem eye. Professor Moulton's Header's Bible, good as it is, does not please everyone because he varies the order of the canoe, and because he adopts the Revised Version. However, we aro glad to see his simplified edition of the Now Testament, con- taining the complete Gospels, the ACM slightly abridged, and selections from the Epistles and the Apocalypse. He explain' that he intends this edition, with its simple introductions and notes, not merely for schools, but also for all Bible students. It is far easier to read than any ordinary Testament The sayings of Christ are printed in a distinctive type.
